Artusi's "Brutti ma Buoni": the recipe

Easy to make, to savor alone or dipped in red wine.

200 g of peeled almonds

100 g of white flour

100 g white sugar

1 egg

30 g butter

scorza di 1 limone

lemon zest

Grind almonds until you get a flour-like powder. Add the egg, the flour, the sugar, the softened butter and the lemon zest. Mix with your hands until you get a solid though, but still not too dry. It can be softened with a drop of rhum.

Roll the dough with your hands until you get a "snake" and cut it in small slices... just like salami! Flatten each cookie and give it a round shape.

Place the cookies on a baking tin and bake at 180° celsius for 15-20 minutes.

When the cookies acquire a golden color, take out of the oven and let cool.

They won't be good-lloking, but good taste is guaranteed!
